The Frankincense tree holds soul medicine from the earth and helps us to recognise our inner qualities of vitality and expansion. It empowers us to become grounded in body, flowing in emotion and free in spirit. This can be helpful when connecting with sources for inspiration, creativity and healing to ground visions to the physical world.

Frankincense is made from the resin of the Boswellia tree family. It grows in the driest deserts of Africa, India, mountains of Asia and across the vast expanse of the Arabian desert.   For more than 6,000 years, Frankincense has been transported by caravans of camels, and traded from the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Sea.

Its woody fragrance and medicinal properties has been an integral part of spiritual and religious ceremonies in almost every ancient civilisation in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and China and has been found in the remains of ancient Egyptian and Anglo-Saxon civilizations. In the Bible, it was offered with gold and myrrh by the three kings at the birth of Jesus.

The calming properties of Frankincense continues to be used for meditation, prayer and ceremony in churches, temples and monasteries. It is also widely used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine. Folklore remedies use Frankincense to treat a wide variety of medical conditions such as wounds, arthritis, digestive disorders, improve mood, reduce pain and inflammation, and boost immunity. It’s woody, spicy smell and can be inhaled, absorbed through the skin or steeped as a hot tea or fresh water .
