Desert Sage

Latin for ‘salvia,’ meaning ‘to heal’. For centuries many cultures have used sage seeking deep wisdom, clarity and spiritual awareness. Sage is a resilient medicinal aromatic plant used to smudge, as a way to create a cleansing smoke bath to bless, purify and shift unwelcome energies. Smudging means to waft the smoke of the burning sage naturally, using a feather or your breath to shift the smoke aligned with a personal intention. Burning sage is also a very powerful way to re-center, heal or rejuvenate your aura.

Art of smudging

Find a place to rest and connect with your centre (earth element). Rest your sage upright in sand (water element) inside a heat proof bowl or vessel. For gentle energy work, bring a flame (fire element) to the sides of the sage bundle bringing the sage leaf alight. Gently feather, or blow the wafting smoke (air element) in alignment with your intentions. Relight the sage as the flame dissipates depending on how much energy work is needed. For intense energy healing work and for clearing large spaces, burn your entire bundle by lighting the end of your stick in the centre, enabling it to burn the whole way through. Our sage bundles are densely bounded enabling a very long, slow burn time. To ensure the purity and integrity of your bundled sage stick, handle as little as possible.
